Allie had big plans for the future. Falling for a cowboy wasn’t part of it.
1. Get out of Black Falls Texas – aka Redneck Hell
(Graduation was eight months away. After that, she was out of there.)
2. Avoid Wyatt Holcomb at all costs.
(Except he was everywhere and kind of hard to ignore since he was hot-and a really nice guy.)
3. Avoid her parents.
(Shouldn’t be too hard to do since her father hated her and her mother pretended nothing was wrong.)
4. Stop thinking about Wyatt.
(Which would be a lot easier if he wasn’t so sweet… and he’d keep his shirt on.)
5. Decide what she really wants.
(Instead of holding onto the past and the guilt.)
Cowboys & Kisses Playlist
Thanks so much for having me on you blog to promote all things Cowboys & Kisses. I loved writing Allie and Wyatt’s first book – really tapping into my inner teenager. It’s been a while since i was young and in love, but this story helped me remember.
Because writing like a teenager was so important, I relied on music, movies, and images to keep me in the young adult frame of mind. And today, I thought I’d share some of the songs that really helped bring Allie and Wyatt to life.
First up – and one I had on repeat for several hours at a time – Everything has Changed by Ed Sheehan and Taylor Swift.
I loved the sweetness – the give and take between the guy and the girl. I don’t know why it resonated with me, but it did. It’s kind of the theme song for this book.
You can’t write a cowboy book without some cowboy songs. There were three I really loved:
1. Compass by Lady Antebellum
2. I Hold On by Dierks Bentley
3. Mine Would Be You by Blake Shelton
Last, but not least – this one conveyed exactly what Wyatt and Allie are to each other. It’s a gorgeous song and the words are just perfect. ‘I will be there, standing by your side…’ – love it! Mountains by Odessa Rose:
