Excerpt:
My parents believed that women should be independent and capable. What is your thinking along those lines, Mr. Hampton?” she asked, purposely goading him.
He emitted a long-suffering sigh. “I do find a capable woman refreshing, Miss Goodwin. I have no qualms with a woman who wishes to be independent and, moreover, isn’t afraid to speak her mind.”
She slid him a glance. “Indeed, I think your aunt is correct. You are a charmer.”
He shrugged. “A woman can profess to be independent in many things, but there are still times when a man’s involvement is necessary.”
“That is quite enough, Wesley Hampton,” his aunt spoke.
“Name one,” Jane fired back as she crossed her arms.
“Jane!” Isabella turned in her chair and pinned Jane with a shocked expression.
Wesley’s mouth curled into a wicked smile. He lifted his brow and set down his cup. “A conversation left to another day

This is a historical romance with intriguing and interesting elements that will have you turning pages to see what happens next…

The setting for the time frame of this book, some women are treat a specific way and they expected to carry on a certain way BUT Miss Jane is opposite of that persona. Strong willed, curious, open minded, and ferociously independent American woman. And a Journalist! The first scene that the author writes is when Miss Jane walks in to a room where her fiancé was dallying on an affair with the maid…  After witnessing the liaison she returns to the luncheon that was occurring a few doors down and ann0unces about what she witnesses and ends the relations the gentleman. BUT the gentleman and his family will not go quietly away. They cause a bit of ruckus for Miss Jane and she leaves America for bit.

When she arrives in England to stay with a distant relative there is a sinister crime that is occurring and Miss Jane finds herself in the midst of a cases of body parts that are surfacing and Miss Jane’s curiosity gets the better of herself and she find herself in the midst of the case with a strong desire to solve.

My thoughts on the book that it was a well written, whodunit mystery contemporary erotic romance…

There were a few elements that had me scratching my head and wondering if was that possible during that time (I don’t have a moment to research if it …)

Overall a 4.5 star read.

  1. I’ve got this story at the top of my TBR list and on my wish list at Amazon and on a stickee note by my computer. 🙂 Amanda’s western romances are delightful and I expect this story will be too. Romantic suspense is one of my fave genres, so when it’s combined with another of my fave genres (historical romance), it’s a double whamee for me. 🙂 In other words, it’s gonna be terrific!!

    1. This was a really good one that I did enjoy (well you saw the review…) Thanks for stopping by
